City elections wrap up, see fluid transition ahead with electronic voting

By Dominick D’Agostino | City of MacArthur, Cameron County

Yesterday saw the start, and subsequent end, of the city-level elections.

These elections were very unique for the citizens of Badgers Boys State as they will be the only paper ballot elections held during the duration of the program.

As most elections are, the voting was held by city, with each citizen marking their presence and proceeding to the vote. The ballots were completed by shading in arrows to signify the candidate chosen and, when done, each person placed their ballot in the corresponding city and party box with the results then being counted.

This was all reasonably typical.

The wait for the announcement of the winning candidates was seemingly endless, until finally the election victors were posted on their respective city boards.

In the City of MacArthur, in the Cameron County, the results showed that both parties are equally set back; meaning there was a near perfect divide between Federalists and Nationalists elected to city-level positions. Some of the elected positions of MacArthur include Nick Larsen as Mayor and Hank Bell as City Municipal Judge.

While upcoming elections should be even more efficient, those of the city did an excellent job of introducing the citizens of BBS to the system.
