Sawyer County Federalists ditch traditions, turn to memes for campaigning

By Theo Rauch | City of Goodland, Sawyer County

In a recent turn of events, the Sawyer County Federalist Caucus decided to make memes the center of their county-wide campaign.

They incorporated some classics like the iconic arm wrestling meme but also some newer formats like the “Me and the Boys” meme.

On the surface, this may seem like a silly, almost flippant approach to campaigning; however, I think it’s an excellent idea. If you think about it, memes are the great unifier among our generation.

They’re something everyone can appreciate regardless of party, race or background. Furthermore, adding humor to an otherwise difficult week is always a good thing.

Even though the Federalists took a gamble by choosing such an unprecedented strategy, I think it will pay off in the end.

In my opinion, party lines are too poorly drawn to be truly divisive, so in a tight election, humor could be just the thing to reach across party lines and secure a Federalist victory. With the planning phase behind them, the Sawyer County Federalists are looking ahead to county elections and the state caucus meeting.

If all goes according to plan, this strategy will translate to a Federalist victory in the coming days.
