For many Badger Boys State citizens, informal gatherings at either the city or the county level occur outside of their residence halls, as well as pickup athletic contests throughout the day.
The weather can play a large part in whether citizens can have productive sessions in these meetings, and so far it appears as though the weather has been cooperative.
Talking with multiple seasoned counselors around BBS, the general sentiment has been that this year’s weather has been phenomenal compared to previous years. Previous years have spawned almost everything from blazing heat to near-tornado situations.
This year, the weather has been fairly consistent in the 70’s and varying between sun, clouds and the occasional shower, leaving a good climate for citizens to not suffer too much in the residence halls and during recreation time.
The weather levels the playing field for recreation time, as no one team from a warmer part of the state will be at an advantage.
Looking ahead, the good weather will generally continue, with one notable exception – tomorrow. The National Weather Services gives the State of Badger an 80 percent chance of precipitation, with the occasional flash of lighting during the day.
The rest of the days look to play out weather-wise much the same as the beginning portion of the week, with Thursday, Friday and Saturday containing a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures in the upper-60’s and lower-70’s.
Thursday also may include winds of up to 30 miles per hour, leaving the impact on Ultimate Frisbee, tennis and other sports up in the air, while Friday and Saturday also contain slight chances for rain.
Luckily, with athletic competition finishing up with the cross-country race on Friday, this weather shouldn’t impact the statewide athletic competition.
