City of Thompson remains one big family despite Federalist landslide victory

By Dylan Straube | City of Thompson, Howe County

It was city election day Monday and there was a momentous result in Thompson.

During voting, Thompson citizens thought the results were going to be mixed. But sadly, for the disorganized Nationalist party, every single position ended up being held by Federalist members.

We’re talking from the mayor all the way down to city clerk. According to City Counselor Garrett, this may have never happened before. And the Nationalist party was not pleased by the results, especially since they had more party members than the Federalists.

Personally, as a Federalist this was a huge win for us. It gives us a huge advantage in the running of Thompson and it looks like we might have the advantage at the county level too.

I love how unified our party is so far. We have really come together to hear each other out and to make sure everyone gets some say in meetings. I’m hoping this is shown through to all of Howe county and they’ll vote Federalist.

So far everyone is enjoying putting their parties together and the election process. Yes, even the Nationalist party is happy after the crushing defeat, because at the end of the day we’re all here to have fun, try new things and gain knowledge about the inner workings of government.

We’re all friends, despite party affiliation and the City of Thompson is one big family.
