BBS Governor candidates use mix of logos, ethos, pathos to persuade BBS citizens

Each person has a different way to reach the audience.

Some speeches touch the logic in us while others reach out to the emotions stored in our minds. Some speeches try to use credibility and experts to persuade the public.

These three methods are called ethos, pathos and logos. While using logos can persuade a crowd, many speeches make use of pathos to be remembered and to reach out to the audience. The best speeches make use of each method of persuasion.

During the speeches made by the Governor candidates Thursday, Nationalist candidate Deniz used Pathos to grasp the emotions of the audience and Malik used Ethos and Logos to persuade the audience that he has the plan and authority to lead Badger Boys State.

Deniz said he feels “amazed and overwhelmed by everyone’s support”. He said, “he came to BBS alone and the Wednesday emotional audience inspired him”.

Now that he’s running for Governor he said, “he wants to become an icon for all of the men who need a leader”.

On the other hand, Malik is running as a logical and responsible leader.

When interviewed he said, “he’s already discussed how to improve the budget with both nationalists and federalists”. He proudly proclaimed that “he will have full support of the Senate when he is elected because he will be bipartisan”.

Deniz offers the emotional support many have been seeking and the role model to help others reach out.

Will citizens elect what their hearts want or what their brains want?

These are the many questions every voter is facing. All that is left is to wait and see what the next chapter of Badger Boys will be.
